Danfengou is located in Nanping, within the Wanxian Mountain Scenic Area. It's a canyon carved by water from the mountains. The initial half-hour hike seems uninteresting, but at the end, you'll find a pool and a large waterfall. Ascending from here, the water and mountains complement each other beautifully, creating a breathtaking scene. This is the most scenic waterscape in the Southern Taihang Mountains.
Danfengou Gorge is not very long, only about one or two kilometers, but it's eerie and steep, deep and narrow, with a dramatic drop. The mountains on either side rise and fall straight up, a typical feature of the Taihang Gorge. The plank roads follow the terrain, sometimes offering gentle wooden paths, sometimes ascending and descending iron ladders, sometimes spanning a cable bridge between the two peaks, and sometimes spiraling down. The entire plank road has only one location, with a drop of 30 to 40 meters, where a three- or four-meter-long cave has been carved through the mountain. Here, an observation deck has been built, offering views of the waterfall and a bird's-eye view below. On the left side, a ladder descends vertically, offering a thrilling experience. Elsewhere, the plank roads follow the mountain's contours.
At the bottom of the gully, a gentle stream, formed by mountain springs, appears and disappears. Here, tributaries of the canyon converge, forming a small river whose flow is endlessly shifting, sometimes roaring, sometimes droning. The entire valley is awash with greenery and flowers, each vying for beauty. Small bridges flow through the water, fish swim in the shallows, and birds sing and dance, amidst the fragrance of flowers. Strolling through the valley, feeling the gentle breeze, inviting friends for a drink, and enjoying the vast expanse of the sea, the sky, and the endless joy, it truly feels like a fairyland.
Warm temperate continental monsoon climate; Danfengou is a classic scenery of Nanping Scenic Area. The canyon scenery is deep and beautiful, quiet and pleasant, suitable for travel in all seasons.
