Huanghua Mountain is a scenic mountainous tourist destination that combines natural landscapes with historical sites. Huanghua Mountain is one of the earliest recorded mountains in history, integrating Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. It boasts a long history and rich cultural heritage. It experienced a resurgence in the 1990s with the development of modern tourism.
Located east of the main peak of Linlu Mountain, the Huanghua Shenyuan Scenic Area boasts picturesque scenery, lush greenery, and breathtaking clouds. The area is truly spectacular, integrating both natural and cultural landscapes, bringing together ancient and modern wonders. It boasts 72 scenic spots, including "Huanghua Water Flowing Upside Down," "A Thousand-foot-High Hanging Stream Entering a Pearl Curtain," and "Ice Cave Hidden in the Scorching Summer."
With a temperate monsoon climate, waterfalls cascade down from the mountaintops, shimmering lakes in the valleys, clouds cloaking the peaks, and water flowing around the secluded valleys, it is praised as "the most beautiful peak in Taihang, Linlu Peak, and Linlu Huanghua are even more famous." It is suitable for travel in all seasons.
The memorial archway serves as the gateway to the Huanghua Shenyuan Scenic Area. Completed in 1994, it stands 15 meters high and 9 meters wide. Resembling an antique structure, it features white walls and yellow tiles, four piers, and three gates. The four characters "Huanghua Shenyuan" (Huanghua Shenyuan) are inscribed in the center of the archway by Zhu Changzhong, a Tsinghua University professor, expert consultant on scenic spots for the Ministry of Construction, and a co-designer of the national emblem of the People's Republic of China. Above the side gates are inscribed the characters "Junji" (Junji) and "Shenwang" (Shenwang), while the reverse side of the archway is inscribed with the characters "Taihang Shengji" (Taihang Shengji). Against the backdrop of the surrounding blue sky, white clouds, and lush trees, the entire archway exudes a sense of solemnity, elegance, and divine presence, imbuing it with a sense of sacredness. Some also call this gate the "Eastern Heavenly Gate," the first entrance to Huanghua Mountain. Two steps west leads to the "Central Heavenly Gate," and climbing three steps further up leads to the "Western Heavenly Gate," also known locally as the "Tizitou" (Tibetan Ladder Head).
Huanghua Sacred Garden includes the Great Wall of Zhao State and Huanghua Guild Hall from the Warring States Period, the summer palace of Gao Huan of the Eastern Wei Dynasty, the Jueren Temple from the Sui Dynasty, the Queen Mother Temple and Ciming Temple from the Song Dynasty, the Water Curtain Pavilion, Huanghua Central Courtyard, and Jade Emperor Pavilion from the Ming and Qing Dynasties; there is the Huanghua Academy founded by Wang Tingyun, a famous calligrapher and painter from the Jin Dynasty, when he lived in seclusion here, as well as more than 70 steles with famous poems and essays from past dynasties; there are two stone pagoda groups and many ancient and famous trees.
