Xitan Island, located within Xixiayuan, a section of the Yellow River at the junction of Potou Town, Jiyuan City, Henan Province, and Jili District, Luoyang City, is closely connected to the Xiaolangdi Waterfall upstream. Xitan Island, a riverside island surrounded by water, is administratively affiliated with Jiyuan City, a city directly under the jurisdiction of Henan Province. The Xitan Island scenic area, which launched in 2014, is known for its leisure island design: witness the sunrise in the morning, the sunset in the evening, and marvel at the breathtaking scenery of a lake bathed in the western sunset, with half the city shrouded in mountains and half the city covered in lake.
It has a warm temperate continental monsoon climate, with warm and windy springs, hot and rainy summers, clear and cool autumns, and dry, cold, and little snow in winters.
