Hanyang Peak, located about 20 kilometers south of Guling Street in Lushan, Jiangxi Province, is the highest peak in Lushan, at 1,474 meters. While not as treacherous as Wulao Peak, it is still majestic and impressive. It's said that on a moonlit night, one can see the lights of Hanyang, one of the three towns of Wuhan, from the summit, hence the name.
On the summit of Hanyang Peak stands a square stone platform named Hanwang Terrace. Legend has it that when a flood reached the sky, all of Lushan Mountain was submerged, but this peak remained standing, nestled between the water and sky. This is how the King of Han sought refuge. To the east of Hanyang Terrace stands a stone pillar on the main peak, inscribed with the characters " Great Hanyang Peak . "
In front of Hanyangtai, there's a steep cliff shaped like a chair, known as "Yuwang Cliff." Legend has it that Dayu, while controlling floods, sat here, observing the floods and considering how to dredge the Jiujiang River. It's said that the words " Honghuang Yang Yu Nai Nian " (Honghuang Yang Yu Nai Nian ) can still be vaguely discerned in the stone carvings on the cliff . This is the earliest peak climbed by ancient people. Records indicate that Emperor Wu of Han visited this peak during his southern tour in 106 BCE, the fifth year of Yuanfeng in the Western Han Dynasty . Qin Shihuang also visited this peak during his southern tours.
Whenever the sky is clear and blue, without a single cloud, you can climb up to this peak and have a panoramic view of Kuang Lu, the Yangtze River and Poyang Lake, which gives you a sense of " looking down on all the mountains " .
