Longguang Academy, located in Rongtang, southwest of Fengcheng, the site of the ancient Fengcheng County, was a privately run academy during the Song Dynasty. Named Longyi by Emperor Gaozong of Song, it is included in the Dictionary of Chinese Academies. Surrounded by red walls, the academy boasts ancillary buildings including the Mountain Temple, Wangguang Pavilion, Jianguang Shrine, Wanqingzhai, and granaries. The entire compound covers 25,000 square meters. Its architectural layout is rigorous and standardized, with elegant and unique forms, imbued with local characteristics. The area is surrounded by towering ancient trees and verdant pines and cypresses, creating a beautiful environment.
