The Longtan Waterfalls, located 7 kilometers northwest of Ciping, are a must-see attraction within the Longtan Scenic Area. Known as the "Five Pools and Eighteen Waterfalls," this cluster of waterfalls is a notable green feature of Jinggang Mountain.
Visit the Five Fold Waterfalls at Longtan, and follow the trail down from the first pool to the fifth. Longtan is famous for its five pools and five waterfalls: Jade (Qinglong), Golden Lock (Yellow Dragon), Pearl (Chilong), Flying Phoenix (Black Dragon), and Fairy (White Dragon).
The five waterfalls dance like white silk threads, spewing out pearls and jade, a breathtaking spectacle. The five pools, crystal clear and azure like jade, are exceptionally beautiful. Legend has it that the Five Dragon Pools are the incarnations of the Dragon King's five daughters, with the Fairy Pool, the youngest daughter, being the most beautiful. The Green Dragon Pool boasts the largest drop, reaching over 80 meters.
The subtropical monsoon climate is characterized by the Longtan Waterfalls, with five waterfalls, large and small, each with its own unique characteristics. They are magnificent, steep, and breathtakingly beautiful, making them suitable for travel in all seasons.
The Jade Pool Waterfall, with a drop of 67 meters, creates a deafening roar and a misty haze. It sits at the beginning of the Grand Canyon, surrounded by sheer cliffs covered in moss on three sides. On one side, where the terrain is gentler and a scenic path leads, a massive mist rises from it, forcing the surrounding trees and bamboos to fold in the fog and strong wind.
The Suolongtan Waterfall is hidden in the rhododendron forest. The sound of water is dull, as if a locked dragon is eager to get out of the cave.
The Pearl Pond Waterfall has a drop of more than 30 meters. The sound of the water is clear and the surface of the pond is azure. The waterfall breaks into countless shining water droplets in mid-air and hits the surface of the pond directly, just like pearls falling on a jade plate, hence the name Pearl Pond.
There is a huge rock blocking the mouth of the Jigutan Waterfall, and the river water is cut into several streams, rushing into the deep pool with a sound like beating a drum. In the pool, giant salamanders shuttle back and forth, and crabs appear and disappear from time to time.
Fairy Pond is the most beautiful of the five ponds. At the waterfall's mouth, a curled-up rock forms the water's path, splitting it into two winding streams before reuniting beneath the rock and plunging straight down. From a distance, the Fifth Pond Waterfall resembles a dancing fairy in a long robe, its lines strikingly distinct. The waterfall drops over 40 meters, creating a vast, bottomless expanse. A rectangular stone slab juts out from the right side, creating a natural diving platform. Tourists often linger here.
It is recommended to play for about 2 hours.
