
Tuochuan Township is located at the northernmost edge of Wuyuan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. It borders Zheyuan Township to the east, Qinghua Town to the south, Zhangshan Township to the west, and Wangcun Town, Xiuning County, Anhui Province to the north. The township government is located in Hedong Village, located in the central region, at the mouth of Sanxi River, southeast of Tuofeng Peak. Tuochuan is known for the melodious flow of its clear stream. Located 55 kilometers from the county seat, it covers an area of 91 square kilometers and administers three administrative villages: Hedong, Hexi, and Likeng, as well as one township-run forest farm. Tuochuan Township has a population of 5,470 people and 1,502 households. It is a traditional agricultural township with 4,411.9 mu of cultivated land, including 4,001 mu of paddy fields.
The county is located in the mid-subtropics and has the characteristics of the East Asian monsoon zone. It has a mild climate, abundant rainfall, a short frost period, and distinct four seasons.
There are 242 ancient buildings that are still well preserved (including 24 buildings from the Ming Dynasty and 106 buildings from the Qing Dynasty), such as the "Guan Ting" of Yu Ziyi, the Guangzhou prefect during the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty, the "Tianguan Shangqing" of Yu Maoheng, the Minister of Personnel during the Tianqi period, and the "Shangshu Di" of Yu Maoxue, the Right Vice Minister of the Ministry of Revenue and Minister of Works during the Wanli period.
