
The Daruoyan Scenic Area, located in the middle reaches of the Xiaonan River, covers a total area of 85 square kilometers. From Jiuzhang Bridge, travel west along Yongjin Highway for about 14 kilometers to reach the scenic center, Daruoyan Taogong Cave.
This scenic area is full of unique mountains and beautiful waters, most of which are of high scenic value, especially the waterfalls, unique peaks and unique caves. There are many waterfalls with various shapes and sizes.
Wenzhou has a mid-subtropical monsoon climate zone, with significant alternation between winter and summer monsoons, moderate temperatures, distinct four seasons, and abundant rainfall.
All seasons are suitable for visiting, but spring and autumn are the best.
Taogong Cave in Dayuoyan
Taogong Cave, considered the "Twelfth Blessed Land" of Taoism, is an igneous cave at the foot of Mount Daluoyan. The cave is 56 meters high, 79 meters deep, and 76 meters wide, and can accommodate a thousand people. Opening from a thousand-foot-high cliff, it is the largest stone chamber in southern Zhejiang. Legend has it that the cave was carved by the beak of the mythical bird Dapeng.

The best viewpoints are near the waterfalls, the top of the hiking trails, and by the serene lakes. These spots offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes.
Start by walking along the lakes, then hike up the trails to reach the waterfalls. Visit the temples and end with a peaceful break at one of the rest areas with scenic views.
Night visits and light shows are not available. It’s best to visit during daylight hours to enjoy the full beauty of the natural surroundings.
The area can get crowded during weekends and public holidays. The least crowded times are early mornings on weekdays, especially outside the peak tourist seasons.
Basic facilities such as toilets, rest areas, and small shops are available. Food and drink can be found at the nearby shops or restaurants.
The main paths are accessible for elderly visitors and children, but some of the hiking trails may be challenging for those with mobility issues.
Cash is accepted, but mobile payments (WeChat Pay, Alipay) are commonly used. Credit cards are generally not accepted at smaller shops.
There are a few local restaurants near the entrance serving Zhejiang cuisine. For more options, Wenzhou city has a variety of restaurants and cafes.
Vegetarian options are available, but halal food may be limited. It’s easier to find more diverse food choices in Wenzhou city.
There are a few souvenir shops offering local handicrafts, traditional arts, and small gifts like postcards and snacks.
Taxis and local buses are available to continue your trip. You can also return to Wenzhou city for further transportation options like trains and buses.
