Introducing Qingtang City Ruins Park

Located in Xining's Chengdong District, the Qingtang City Ruins Park occupies a section of the southern wall of the Nantan Ancient City, built in 1034. During the Tang Dynasty, this area was known as Shancheng. Following the An-Shi Rebellion, the Tubo recaptured Shancheng from the Tang Dynasty. The city gained the name Qingtang City due to the towering green mountains surrounding it.

Qingtang City was the capital of the Tsunami regime. It was 10 kilometers in circumference and had eight gates. It was divided into two parts: the western part, home to the royal palace, temples, military and political institutions, and aristocratic residences. The eastern part served as the commercial district, attracting merchants from all over the world. Hundreds of merchants from Khotan and the Uighurs alone operated here, making the city extremely prosperous. During the period when the Western Xia controlled the Hexi Corridor, it was also a key point on the southern route of the Silk Road and the ancient Tang-Tibet Road. It was abandoned in the 19th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty, when the northern half of the original Qingtang City was rebuilt into the Xining Guard City.

This section of the Qingtang City ruins is located on the South Ring Road on the south side of the stadium outside the south gate of Xining City. It is about 300 meters long. Over the past 900 years, it has experienced vicissitudes of life, wind and rain erosion, leaving only this section of relics carrying that period of history, leaving it for future generations to search for the past of the ancient city of Xining.
