The Honghe Prefecture Museum was built in December 2003. It is located on the west side of Honghe Square, the administrative center of Honghe Prefecture, No. 65 Tianma Road, Mengzi, Yunnan Province. The museum covers an area of 3,266 square meters and has a total construction area of 8,121 square meters. It has functional halls such as office areas, warehouses, exhibition halls, academic lecture halls, and multimedia centers.
The Honghe Prefecture Museum's exhibition design focuses on ethnic culture, while also taking into account local history and cultural landscapes. Its exhibition halls are divided into three main sections: "The Rich and Beautiful Honghe," "The Magnificent Ethnic Groups," and "The Mysterious and Ancient Honghe." Each section is further divided into several units and special topics to highlight the central exhibition hall's theme. "The Rich and Beautiful Honghe" consists of an introductory hall, an atrium, and a circular corridor. "The Magnificent Ethnic Groups" encompasses ethnic culture, Tusi relics, and Hani terraced fields.

The Honghe Prefecture Museum exhibits more than a thousand pieces of bronzes, ceramics, bronze drums, calligraphy and painting, ethnic costumes, handicrafts, folk musical instruments, etc. Among them are national treasure-level cultural relics such as the bronze figurine lamp, Wen Zhengming's calligraphy "Ten Poems of the Western Garden" and the Wanjiaba-type bronze drum.
