Qinglong Bridge, located on the Lancang River 60 kilometers northeast of Fengqing County, Lincang City, is constructed from 16 iron cables, with five pavilions at each end and several cliff inscriptions along the banks. Qinglong Bridge, a strategic point on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road, is the only remaining ancient bridge across the Lancang River.
At the bridgeheads of Qinglong Bridge, pavilions with green tiles, white walls, and flying eaves create a magnificent scene. Corridors offer pedestrians a place to rest, shelter from the rain, and gaze out over the Lancang River; towers serve as shelter for soldiers. The two banks connect with the post road, and the towers, with their gates closed at dusk and opened in the morning, create the illusion of a single man blocking the way, while ten thousand remain.
Numerous couplets of poetry by scholars are inscribed on the stone walls at either end. Particularly striking is the couplet, repeatedly repainted with vermilion lacquer by later generations: "Brush sweeps away thousands of troops; the inscription on the bridge already shames Sima." This is the first line of the couplet by Zhang Hannei, and the second line by Jiangbei poet Mao Jian: "Draw the Eight Formations; Arrange the Stones in the Style of Crouching Dragon." The entire couplet is neat and rigorous, forming a unique and cohesive whole.
The subtropical low-latitude mountain monsoon climate has a small temperature difference between the four seasons, distinct dry and wet seasons, and significant vertical changes. There is no severe cold in winter and no scorching heat in summer. It is suitable for travel in all seasons.
