The Xiniuping Scenic Area of Pu'er National Park is located in the north-central part of the national park, 42 kilometers southeast of Simao District, Pu'er City, and 21 kilometers from the Nandaohe entrance and exit of the Simao-Xiaoxing Expressway. Covering a total area of 2,000 mu, the area was invested and constructed by Mekong River Tourism Co., Ltd. in August 2011 and completed in August 2013. Located in the transition zone between the tropics and subtropics, the area boasts a forest coverage rate of 94.5%, preserving China's largest and most intact southern subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest.
The Xiniuping Scenic Area is a comprehensive mountain scenic area that integrates the four themes of "mountains, forests, water, and people," showcasing Yunnan's rich animal resources and the landscapes of the northern tropical and southern subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forests. With the overarching goal of achieving harmony between man and nature, the area innovates and transcends limitations in its display of wildlife biodiversity, allowing visitors to experience a variety of wildlife in a natural environment dominated by ecology and supported by forests. This fully satisfies modern people's desire for the wild and natural world, seeking firsthand experience and in-depth understanding.
The scenic area features ten scenic attractions, including "Rhino Hermitage, Macaque Paradise, Fish Shadows River Tracing, Alsophila Trail, Playful Monkey Peninsula, Osprey Playing in the Water, Butterfly Valley, Traveling Red Pandas, Playful Bird Paradise, and Orchid Garden," as well as ethnic song and dance performances. Here, you can not only stroll through the vast forest and see the Alsophila sinensis, a living fossil from the same era as the dinosaurs, up close, and linger among a variety of orchids, waiting for their blooms. You can also admire rhinos running freely in the grasslands, gibbons happily wandering through the forests, red pandas roaming freely in the forests, various waterfowl leisurely wandering in the wetlands, butterflies dancing gracefully in the valley, and birds singing joyfully on the branches. You can also savor a cultural feast that brings together the songs and dances of Pu'er's 14 indigenous ethnic minorities.
The low-latitude plateau has a subtropical monsoon climate; the dry and wet seasons are distinct throughout the year, the annual rainfall is 1,600 mm, the content of negative oxygen ions in the air is extremely high, and there is a pleasant climate with no scorching heat in summer and no severe cold in winter, making it suitable for travel in all four seasons.
