The Jiangnu Temple is located at the foot of Jinshan Mountain in the suburbs of Tongchuan, about 1.5 kilometers from the ancient city of Tongchuan. The story of Meng Jiangnu crying at the Great Wall is extremely popular in China, especially among the people, and has a distinct personality. The Tongchuan Jiangnu Temple is a scenic spot and historical site that is most worth visiting.
The mountain gate, sacrificial pavilion, statue of Meng Jiangnu and steps of the Jiangnu Temple are staggered and integrated into one. The mountain gate is three bays wide and imitates the hip-and-gable style of Qing Dynasty architecture with semi-arched eaves. A plaque with the words " Meng Jiangnu " is hung in the middle of the door. Inside the mountain gate courtyard, there stands a 4.5- meter-high statue of Meng Jiangnu , and on both sides are steles with poems and essays by ancient people praising the Jiangnu Temple.
Legend has it that when Meng Jiangnu died, tears continued to flow from her eyes. These tears flowed into a rocky pit beside a mountain, forming a spring that people later called the " Pool of Tears . " The water still flows today, crystal clear and sweet, said to cure gray hair. People from nearby come to draw water daily.
