West Peak is the most beautiful and steep peak in Huashan. There is a huge rock in front of Cuiyun Palace on the top of the peak that looks like a lotus, so it is also called Lotus Peak.
This is the place where Chenxiang split the mountain to rescue the Three Holy Mothers. Near Cuiyun Palace, there's a huge rock with a crack in the middle, as if it had been split by an axe. It's called the "Axe-Split Rock," and a long-handled axe stands beside it. The northwest face of the peak, steep and seemingly cut like a knife, is known as the "Shesheng Cliff." The West Peak of Mount Hua is a steep peak that developed from a horst foundation.
West Peak, 2,082 meters above sea level, is one of the main peaks of Mount Hua and is named for its western location. Ancient scholars also referred to it as Lotus Peak or Hibiscus Peak because of the huge rock on its summit that resembles a lotus petal.
The warm temperate continental monsoon climate makes it suitable for travel in all four seasons.
There are numerous scenic spots on the West Peak, including Cuiyun Palace, Lotus Cave, Giant Spirit's Foot, Axe-Split Stone, Sacrifice Cliff, etc., and there are many beautiful myths and legends, among which the story of Chenxiang splitting the mountain to save his mother is the most widely circulated.
