The Jiutian Mountain Scenic Area is located 8 kilometers south of Zhashui County, at the southern foot of the Qinling Mountains. It covers an area of 10 square kilometers, with its highest peak, Jade Emperor Peak, reaching 2,483 meters above sea level. Jiutian Mountain gets its name from its towering peaks, the ancient temple of the Nine Heavens Holy Mother, and the legend of the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady. Here, you can witness cascading waterfalls, traverse rugged forests and ravines, worship the Nine Heavens Mysterious Lady, explore agarwood relics, stay in mountain cabins, watch folk performances, and savor wild game and mountain delicacies, truly experiencing a sense of harmony between man and nature.
The Jiutian Mountain Scenic Area combines seclusion, wonder, danger, and beauty, with peaks, forests, pools, and waterfalls all in one place, showcasing the majesty of the mountains, the enigmatic beauty of the gorges, the spiritual charm of the waters, and the lush greenery of the forests. The main peak, Jade Emperor Peak, towers majestically, soaring into the sky, shrouded in mist and creating a fairyland-like experience. Below the peak, the "Dengzhanwo" area, a forest of strange rocks, rises from the flat ground. Nine undulating mountain ridges compete for beauty, adorned with dense forests and entwined with vines.
The warm temperate semi-humid monsoon climate features four distinct seasons, with rain and heat occurring in the same season, and distinct dry and wet seasons in the summer and winter. Avoid the cold winter and travel in spring, summer, and autumn.
In the mossy valley, a series of waterfalls, large and small, are studded, including the Xiangshui Cliff Triple Waterfall, Yu'ertan Waterfall, Longbozi Waterfall, Diaoshui Cliff Waterfall, and Jiutian Waterfall. These waterfalls, connected to pools and vice versa, are colorful and resemble the dancing jade belts or the cascading streams of the Milky Way.
For thousands of years, the Jade Emperor Palace, the Nine Heavens Holy Mother Temple, and the Chenxiang Temple have enjoyed widespread fame and have attracted numerous worshippers. Scenic spots such as the "Meeting Immortals Pavilion," the "Playing Fragrance Terrace," the "Bright Eyes Spring," and the "Testing Axe Cliff" narrate the touching story of young Chenxiang's eight years of cultivation on Jiutian Mountain and his rescue of his mother on Xihua Mountain. Other scenic spots include the "Wild Walnut Forest," the "Immortal Spring," the "Two-Headed Beast Guarding the Gate," the "Giant Salamander Pond," the "Waterfall Viewing Pavilion," the "Xuan Nu Dressing Table," and the "Lion Worshipping the Goddess," each offering its own unique charm.
