Yungaisi Town is located in the northwest of Zhen'an County, Yunshi, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. It borders Yongle Town and Huilong Town to the east, Miaogou Town to the south, Dongchuan Town to the west, and Taishan Temple in Xialiang Town, Zhashui County to the north. The highest point, Mihunzhen, is 2,428.2 meters above sea level, while the lowest point, Getiaogoukou, is 705.6 meters above sea level.
Yungai Temple Town was first established in the early Tang Dynasty, with a substantial architectural complex already established during the Dazhong period. According to the Zhen'an County Chronicles, Yungai Temple was rebuilt after the Zhengtong period of the Ming Dynasty, boasting a magnificent structure with multiple floors and halls. During the Qing Dynasty, Yungai Temple had two streets (Front Street and Back Street).
Since ancient times, Yungai Temple Town has connected Sichuan and Sichuan to the south and Guanzhong to the north. It served as a water and land port between Xi'an and Ankang, and a distribution center for merchants from Sichuan, Shaanxi, Hubei, and Henan. Originally, Yungai Temple existed here, founded by the Tang Dynasty monk Miaoda. During its construction, clouds lingered for years, gradually dispersing after its completion, earning it the name "Yungai Temple." Renovations during the Ming and Qing dynasties revealed nine floors and eighteen halls, housing over a thousand monks. Today, the ancient temple is in ruins. In the early Republic of China, the area was home to the famous "Four Big Stores" and "Eight Small Stores," which thrived and flourished.
The warm temperate semi-humid monsoon climate presents four distinct seasons, with rain and heat occurring in the same season, dry winters and wet summers, and distinct dry and wet periods. It is suitable for travel in all seasons.
