Pingyang Xiwan, also known as Xiwan Scenic Area, is a national 2A-level scenic area located in the southeast of Pingyang County. From south to north, it can be divided into five major scenic areas: Yangyu Mountain, Ersha, Xiguncang, Xiwan, and Tiaotou. It is a seaside and sea rock scenic area with sea erosion, reefs, and mudflats as the main scenery.
Pingyang has a warm climate and abundant natural resources. The alternation of winter and summer monsoons is significant, with moderate temperatures, distinct four seasons, and abundant rainfall.
All seasons are suitable for visiting, but spring and autumn are the best.
The scenic area can be divided into five major areas from south to north: Yangyu Mountain, Ersha, Xi'aokou, Xiwan, and Tiaotou:
The Yangyu Mountain Scenic Area is centered on Yangyu Mountain, a 0.28 square kilometer island at the mouth of the Aojiang River, 0.95 kilometers from the mainland. The island's shores are dotted with steep rocks and standing stones, along with unique seashores and numerous caves. Key attractions include the beacon fire, the spectacular sight of the giant turtle carrying the mountain, the Twin Dragon Cave, the Divine Turtle Cave, and the Guanyin Cave.
Ersha Scenic Area is a distinctive feature of Xiwan Scenic Area. Its overlapping sea cliffs provide an inexhaustible source of inspiration for photographers and artists. The scenic area also features small murals, a stone corridor, the Tide-Listening Cave, the Golden Peak, the Duimianshan Waterfall, and the Jiaomen Colorful Station.
The Xi'ao Cang Scenic Area is located in the middle of the Xiwan Scenic Area. This area is dotted with caves, rock cliffs, and beaches, with bays one after another. The main attractions include Mengyin Cave, Wanxiang Mural, Tiandu Stone Pillar, and Owl Rock.
The Cangyan murals in Xiwan Scenic Area are mainly characterized by reefs and stone plates. Xiaoyang Mountain, Hengzhou, Longtan, the Jimu Chaoguang Point, and the Huang Family Broadsword are the highlights of this scenic area.
The Tiaotou Scenic Area is a complex comprising a fishing village, steep cliffs, a beach, a Niangniang Temple, the Three High Halls, and a beacon tower. Highlights include Baibu Jinsha, Beacon Camp, Mogan Bay, Sister Cave, and Danxin Rock.
