Huanglei River Rushan Wetland is located at the mouth of the lower reaches of Huanglei River at the junction of Wendeng and Rushan. It has a large river beach and a narrow estuary. It is an important stop for migratory waterfowl, especially geese and ducks and migratory birds, and an important wintering place for geese and ducks.
The Huanglei River is the city's third-largest river. In recent years, some illegal sand miners, driven by profit, have engaged in excessive and indiscriminate sand extraction, causing varying degrees of damage to the main river channel, embankments along the banks, and cross-river structures. This has reduced flood control capabilities and harmed the ecological environment. The Rushan Municipal Government has decided to raise funds for riverbank repairs and comprehensive river management by selling some of its sand resources for a fee.
It has a temperate continental semi-humid monsoon climate with distinct four seasons, moderate cold and hot seasons, synchronized light and temperature, and simultaneous rain and heat. Spring is dry and windy, summer is hot and rainy, autumn is sunny and refreshing, and winter is cold and snowy.
