Introducing Hanyin Wenfeng Tower

The Hanyin Wenfeng Pagoda, located in Hanyin County, Ankang City, Shaanxi Province, was built in 1873 by then-President of Hanyin, Fu Ruxiu, and local officials, Ou Zhimin and Deng Shixing. It was completed the following year and is dedicated to the Emperor Wenchang. The pagoda stands 120 feet tall and has seven stories, known in Buddhist parlance as a "seven-story pagoda." This hollow, ancient Qing Dynasty pagoda, a blend of pavilion and dense-eaves styles, consists of a base, main body, crown, and finial. The finial, located atop the pagoda, features a Sumeru pedestal, an upturned lotus, a covering, and a jewel.

The Hanyin Wenfeng Pagoda is constructed of blue bricks bonded together with lime mortar. Its six eaves feature stone dragon heads carved into the top, resembling the heads of a Chi (Chi), with wind chimes suspended from them. The tower has five floors, each with a gate. Above the third-floor gate is the inscription "Literature Star Shines High," flanked by couplets that read, "The tower's might soars into the clouds, radiating the light of writing; humanity awakens the mist, radiating the light of Kui." This remarkable sight is unique among my country's numerous Wenfeng Pagodas.
