Matou Mountain Scenic Area is located in Shijiao Town, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province. This Danxia landform is a red rock system formed by Jurassic and Cretaceous sediments, forming flat-topped, steep-bodied, gently sloping square mountains, stone walls, stone peaks, stone pillars and other dangerous landforms. The rocks of various shapes form a scenic landscape with high ornamental value, making it a veritable "Red Stone Park".

A myriad of unusual peaks and rocks, vast rock corridors and caves, and precipitous canyons complement the cascading waterfalls and emerald lakes. One peak, resembling an Egyptian sphinx, is particularly striking. Its shape, resembling the Buddhist concept of "horse's hidden yin," is also known as the Horse Head Stone.
