
Feixia Mountain Scenic Area, commonly known as Feilaixia Scenic Area, is located 60 kilometers south of Guangzhou. It is a provincial-level scenic spot and tourist resort, and one of Guangdong's Four Famous Mountains. It boasts a long history, rich cultural heritage, and magnificent natural scenery. Literati such as Zhang Jiuling and Han Yu from the Tang Dynasty, Su Dongpo from the Song Dynasty, Hai Rui from the Ming Dynasty, and Yuan Mu from the Qing Dynasty all visited Feixia Mountain.
This is the nineteenth blessed land of Taoism. It boasts beautiful mountains and rivers, numerous historical sites, and seventy peaks on either side of a river, each steep and precipitous, with the river meandering through them. This creates a natural beauty of "water flowing into the sea, two mountains facing each other."
Feixia Mountain Scenic Area has many attractions: it consists of Feilaixia Dam, Feilai Island, Feilai Lake, Feilai Island Tourist Resort Center, Feixia Bixi Canyon Rafting, Feixia Ancient Cave, Zangxia Ancient Cave, Jinxia and many other attractions.
Feixia Mountain Scenic Area belongs to the East Asian subtropical monsoon climate zone, with an average annual temperature of 20.7℃, the lowest temperature in January, the highest temperature in July, and an average annual sunshine of 1,662.2 hours.
Feilai Temple
Located on the banks of the Beijiang River, several kilometers downstream from Feixia Mountain, the temple boasts a majestic presence overlooking the river, nestled against the mountain. Construction began in 520 AD, giving it a history of over 1,480 years. Legend has it that it flew here from Shuzhou, Anhui Province, and is a renowned temple steeped in mythical legends. Behind the temple lies a nine-tiered waterfall, the Dongpo Pavilion, and the Taoist Nineteenth Blessed Land.
Feilaixia Dam
Located 18 kilometers upstream from Feixia Mountain, the Beijiang River dam is the largest of Guangdong Province's water conservancy projects. At 3 kilometers long, it boasts a majestic presence. Here, the mighty Beijiang River transforms into a gentle, serene lake. A 16-meter-wide ship lock is located on the east side of the dam.

Feixia Mountain is a renowned natural landmark in Qingyuan, known for its scenic beauty and cultural significance. The mountain features historic temples and ancient rock inscriptions, attracting nature lovers, hikers, and those interested in local history and Taoist culture.
Located in Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province. Visitors can reach Feixia Mountain by taking a bus or taxi from Qingyuan city center. Private cars are convenient for flexibility. There is no direct metro access, so taxi or tour buses are recommended.
Open daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The best visiting seasons are spring and autumn for mild weather and clear views, avoiding the hot summer and rainy season.
The entrance fee is approximately 50–80 RMB per person, depending on the trail or specific attractions. Tickets can be purchased at the park entrance or via online booking platforms.
Booking in advance is recommended during weekends, public holidays, or peak seasons. Usually, 1–2 days in advance is sufficient.
3–5 hours for a moderate hike including stops for photography and sightseeing. A full day allows for exploring more remote trails and nearby cultural sites.
Guided tours are available mainly in Chinese. English-speaking guides may be arranged in advance for groups. Audio guides are not commonly provided.
Start from the main entrance, hike along the scenic trail to the summit, visit temples and rock formations on the way, enjoy the waterfalls, then descend via a different trail to explore alternative viewpoints.
Night visits are generally not allowed for safety reasons. Special tours or cultural events may occur during local festivals, but these are limited and usually daytime events.
Weekdays are less crowded, while weekends and public holidays see more visitors. Early morning visits offer the quietest experience.
Facilities include restrooms at the entrance and along main trails, small snack stalls, water stations, and designated rest areas. Limited souvenir shops are available near the entrance.
Main trails are moderately accessible for children and elderly with reasonable fitness. Steeper trails may be challenging for disabled visitors, so caution is advised.
Most ticket counters and shops accept mobile payments (WeChat Pay, Alipay) and major credit cards. Carry some cash for smaller vendors.
Small local restaurants and cafes are near the mountain entrance serving Guangdong cuisine and snacks. Some lodges provide meals for visitors.
