Xiuwu County is a county under the jurisdiction of Jiaozuo City, Henan Province. Known as Ningyi during the Shang Dynasty, it was named after King Wu of Zhou, who stationed there for military training during his campaign against King Zhou. Located in northwestern Henan Province, at the southern foot of the Taihang Mountains, it borders Jiaozuo City to the west, Lingchuan County, Shanxi Province to the north, Wuzhi County to the south, and Huojia County and Huixian City to the east and northeast. Xiuwu County boasts a long history, having remained unchanged since the Qin Shihuang annexed the six kingdoms and established Xiuwu County. In 2006, the China branch of the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names awarded the title of "Millennium Ancient County." The county boasts historical and cultural sites such as the Ligulongshan Cultural Site, the Dangyangyu Porcelain Kiln Site, Han Yu's Tomb, and Shengguo Temple and its Pagoda.
