
Xichang Torch Square is the main venue of the 2006 Sichuan Winter Tourism Fair and the number one key project of Liangshan Prefecture. It was designed by the China Architecture Design & Research Institute and is in line with the characteristics of Liangshan Prefecture and local ethnic minorities.
Torch Square is a fan-shaped building with a straight section of about 400 meters long and an arc section of about 650 meters long. On the east side is the National Culture and Art Center, a building obliquely inserted into the mountain. On the west side is the Cultural and Leisure Park, which is a naturally raised mountain.
Every year on the 24th day of the sixth lunar month, tens of thousands of Yi people from Liangshan gather here to hold the annual "Duze" ceremony - the Torch Festival.
