Sun Liren's former residence is located in Jinniu Town, Lujiang County, Hefei City, Anhui Province, halfway up Jinniu Mountain, facing north and south.
When it was first built, there were more than a hundred houses. They were gradually demolished after liberation and are now the site of Jinniu Town Middle School. Only one house with 11 rooms, about 250 square meters, is left. It was where Sun Liren lived when he got married at the age of 24. It has a wooden frame structure, blue bricks and small tiles, and carved beams and painted buildings in the corridors and rooms. It is a distinct late Qing Dynasty residential architectural style.
In July 2012, it was successfully promoted to the sixth batch of provincial key cultural relics protection units in Anhui Province.
The former residence has received batches of Sun Liren's former subordinates and relatives who returned from Taiwan, as well as experts and scholars from Taiwan. In addition, a group of Taiwanese businessmen have successively invested and started businesses in the "Taiwanese Businessmen Industrial Park" in Jinniu Town, Lujiang County, achieving good economic and social results.
Sun Liren's former residence is not only a historical site in Lujiang County but also a rare residence of a renowned anti-Japanese general in Anhui Province. With new understanding of Sun Liren's history during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, his contributions are increasingly admired by Chinese people both at home and abroad. He was recognized for his outstanding military exploits among the 100 people who moved China during the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Although General Sun Liren has passed away, his subordinates, relatives, friends, and even a large number of his descendants remain in Taiwan. Once these connections are discovered and utilized, they will undoubtedly play a vital role in fostering harmonious cross-strait relations and peaceful development. Therefore, the preservation and utilization of Sun Liren's former residence, a historical and cultural resource, is becoming increasingly urgent.
With its subtropical monsoon climate, Sun Liren's former residence is not only a scenic spot in Lujiang County, but also the former residence of a rare anti-Japanese general in our province. It is suitable for travel in all seasons.
