Introducing Dajiemen Archway

Located on Yingwang Road in Sanhe Town, the Great Victory Gate is a memorial archway with four side gates, meticulously crafted by master craftsmen. It serves as the gateway to the ancient town's scenic area. In 1858, the Taiping Army completely annihilated over 6,000 elite troops of Li Xubin, a fierce Hunan Army general, achieving the world-famous Sanhe Victory. The Great Victory Gate was built to commemorate this historic victory of a small force over a large one. Existing relics of the "Sanhe Victory" include the Taiping Army ramparts and the Taiping Army headquarters in Sanhe, along with artillery pieces, stone carvings, and other documents. The Taiping Army ramparts were located on East and Middle Streets, encompassing sections opposite the First Primary School, the Supply and Marketing Cooperative, the Second Middle School, the First Primary School campus, the Hospital, and the Food Factory. The former Taiping Army headquarters in Sanhe, located on Middle Street in Sanhe Town, covers an area of approximately 555 square meters. After restoration in 2001, it is now open to the public.

The main function of the archway is to mark the gate and commemorate merits. Generally speaking, a building with a roof on pillars is called a archway, otherwise it is called a memorial archway.
