Your favorite dive bar

Hi all.

I have made a list of dive bars, mainly made from reading on here, and I'd love any info on your favourite location, especially if they new additions to my list!

I don't mind a little travelling if required, and being a Brit, the more 'authentic' the better,

Thank you.

Las Vegas has a surprisingly vibrant dive bar scene, with many spots offering a mix of classic Vegas charm, local crowds, and quirky atmospheres. For someone looking for an authentic experience, venturing off the Strip can yield some of the most memorable and “real” dives.

Some favorites and recommended dive bars include:

  • Atomic Liquors – Located near the Fremont East district, Atomic Liquors is one of the oldest freestanding bars in Las Vegas. It has a relaxed, vintage feel and offers a great selection of drinks at reasonable prices. The outdoor patio is perfect for people-watching.
  • Velveteen Rabbit – This artsy dive in the Arts District has a quirky, intimate vibe with craft cocktails and rotating local art. It’s a blend of dive bar charm and creative energy.
  • The Griffin – Known for its dark, moody atmosphere and strong drinks, this bar caters to those who enjoy a quieter, more authentic dive experience. It’s popular with locals and often hosts live music or DJs.
  • Double Down Saloon – Famous for its offbeat décor, rock ‘n’ roll attitude, and famous “Cocktails of the Damned,” this is a must-visit for those wanting a true dive bar with a Las Vegas edge.
  • Frankie’s Tiki Room – While technically a tiki bar, Frankie’s has a divey, laid-back vibe with strong drinks and a kitschy, retro atmosphere that locals love.

Other tips for enjoying dive bars in Vegas:

  • Most dives are located off the Strip, especially around Fremont Street and the Arts District, so be prepared to travel a bit.
  • Happy hour specials and weekday visits often provide a more relaxed experience, as weekends can get crowded.
  • Interact with the bartenders and locals—they’re usually friendly and can recommend hidden gems not on any official list.

Exploring the dive bar scene in Las Vegas is a great way to experience a side of the city that’s often overlooked by tourists. These venues are authentic, often quirky, and full of character, making them ideal for a Brit seeking a real Vegas local experience.
