Heading to Copley House

Hi all

We (2 adults) will be heading to Boston in 3 weeks time, staying at Copley House

We will have a large suitcase with us so just wondering what the best option is for getting there and then back to the airport.

I'm aware that there is a free shuttle and a paid for one back to the airport, but I've read some very mixed reviews.

Could you lovely folks let me know what the best option is? We don't mind public transport but are conscious that we also don't want to cause issue with a large suitcase.

On a completely differt point, we are considering getting a Walmart delivery whilst there (there are some bits we want but don't fancy travelling to one) Is it expected to tip the delivery driver?

Thanks

For getting to Copley House from Boston Logan Airport with a large suitcase, you have several options, each with pros and cons depending on comfort, cost, and convenience:

Taxi or Ride Share (Uber/Lyft alternative):

  • Taxis are readily available at all Logan terminals. Expect a flat rate or meter rate depending on traffic; a ride to Copley House is typically around $30–$40, plus tip.
  • This is the most straightforward option with large luggage — you won’t have to carry it far.
  • If you avoid Uber/Lyft, Boston taxis are regulated and usually reliable.

Airport Shuttle Services:

  • Some hotels offer a free shuttle from the airport; Copley House provides a shuttle, but reviews are mixed. Timing can be unpredictable, and larger suitcases may make boarding difficult if the shuttle is crowded.
  • Paid shuttles (like SuperShuttle or private car services) can be pre-booked and guarantee space for luggage, usually around $20–$40 per person depending on the service.

Public Transport:

  • Logan Express buses go to some central locations, but for Copley House specifically, you would need to transfer to the MBTA subway or a short taxi ride.
  • With a large suitcase, this is doable but less convenient — you’ll need to navigate stairs or crowded subway cars.

Recommended Approach:

  • For two adults with a large suitcase, a direct taxi or pre-booked private car service is the most comfortable and least stressful.
  • If cost is a bigger concern and you don’t mind a short walk, using public transport is possible, but manage expectations regarding handling your suitcase.
  • Shuttle services can be considered, but plan extra time in case of delays and verify luggage capacity beforehand.

Regarding Walmart delivery to your hotel:

  • Yes, it is customary to tip the delivery driver. Even though Walmart delivery may include a service fee, a tip of $5–$10 is generally appreciated, especially if they carry items to your room.
  • You can specify delivery instructions to leave the items at reception if you prefer, but tipping is standard practice for carrying or assisting with packages.

Summary: For convenience and comfort with luggage, a taxi or pre-booked private car service is the safest bet. If you want to save money, public transport is possible but less convenient. For deliveries, tipping the Walmart driver is customary and appreciated.
