For a weekend stay in downtown Chicago with your family, all four of these hotels are good options, but each offers something a little different. Here's a breakdown of each to help you decide:
- Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago Downtown – This is a solid choice for families. The hotel is centrally located near many of Chicago's main attractions like Millennium Park and the Art Institute. The rooms are comfortable and come with complimentary breakfast, which is great for families on the go. It’s also great for a weekend stay if you're looking for convenience and good value.
- Residence Inn by Marriott Chicago Downtown / River North – The Residence Inn is an excellent choice if you prefer more space and amenities for longer stays. The rooms come with kitchens, which is helpful for families who like to prepare their own meals or snacks. It’s also in a great area, close to River North, and has a nice selection of restaurants and shops nearby. They also offer free breakfast, which can make mornings easier.
- Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago-Downtown – Similar to the Residence Inn, this is another great option for families because of its suite-style rooms with kitchenettes. Homewood Suites also offers a free breakfast and an evening social, which could be a nice bonus if you're there on a weeknight. The location is excellent for exploring the Loop and nearby attractions.
- SpringHill Suites by Marriott Chicago Downtown / River North – SpringHill Suites offers a nice balance of comfort, space, and amenities. Like the Residence Inn, rooms are larger with separate sitting areas, making it a good choice for families who want a bit more space. This location is also ideal, with easy access to popular Chicago attractions like the Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier.
Regarding the choice between a 1 king bed room and a 2 queen bed room, it really depends on your preferences and your child’s sleeping arrangement:
- If your child is still small or happy to sleep in the same bed with you, a king bed might offer more space and comfort. You will also have extra room for activities and relaxing in the room since it's usually more spacious.
- If your child prefers their own bed or you're all more comfortable with separate sleeping arrangements, the two queen beds are the way to go. This can make things more convenient for everyone, especially if your child needs their own space to sleep.
Ultimately, the Residence Inn and SpringHill Suites might be the best options for families looking for more space and amenities like kitchenettes, while the Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites are both more budget-friendly without sacrificing comfort. For a weekend trip, either choice should work well depending on your space needs.
Enjoy your time in Chicago! There's so much to see and do, from the Navy Pier to the museums, and these hotels will put you in a great position to explore the city.
