Itinerary with kids too ambitious?

Kids between 6-14. They’re troopers but still kids.

We are staying at Mandalay. Quick breakfast

. Our plan is to tram to Excalibur. Check out fun dungeon. Walk over to look at NYNY and maybe do coaster. Tram to Bellagio and check out fountain and conservatory. Walk to Venetian to check it out (they wanna see gondolas) and dinner. Finally TI for mystere

Not really looking for a critique on the activities, more so if it’s too much packed between 10am ish and 7pm for mystere.

Thanks.

Your itinerary seems pretty packed, but it can definitely be manageable depending on your kids' energy levels and how much time you spend at each stop. The activities you’ve chosen are all very kid-friendly, and it’s great that you’ve mixed in some walking and shorter experiences to balance out the day.

Here’s a breakdown to help gauge if it’s too ambitious:

  • Breakfast at Mandalay Bay: Starting off with a quick breakfast is a good idea. If you’re grabbing something simple at one of the quick spots, you should be set to get going quickly.
  • Excalibur Fun Dungeon: This is a great stop for the kids. The Fun Dungeon can be a bit of a time sink if they get engrossed in the games, so it’s good to have a rough idea of how long you want to spend here—maybe around 30-45 minutes.
  • New York-New York Coaster: The roller coaster can be exciting but also a bit intense for some kids, especially if they’ve had a lot of excitement already. If you’re planning on doing the coaster, I would suggest limiting the time here to 30 minutes or so. If someone isn’t up for it, you can always watch the coaster from a safe distance while the rest of the family rides.
  • Bellagio Fountains and Conservatory: The fountains run every 15-30 minutes, and the conservatory is a quick, beautiful stop. This is a relatively calm activity and should take about 30 minutes, maybe a bit longer if the kids are enjoying the flowers and gardens.
  • Venetian Gondolas: The gondola ride can be a highlight for the kids, but it’s also something you might want to keep flexible in terms of timing. The line could be long, and the ride itself is about 10-15 minutes. With walking between locations, this could take up to an hour, depending on wait times.
  • Dinner at Venetian: Plan to have a comfortable break here, as meals in Vegas can take a little longer, especially if you find a family-friendly spot. This will be a good time to rest before the evening show. Allow around 1.5-2 hours for dinner.
  • Treasure Island for Mystère: Mystère is an amazing show and a great way to end the day, but you’ll want to be sure that your kids are ready for it. If you’ve been going non-stop from 10am, they might start to get tired. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early for the show, especially if you need to find your seats or grab any snacks. The show itself is about 90 minutes, so by the time it’s over, you’ll be looking at a 7pm end time.

Is it too much? It depends on how your kids handle walking and excitement. The stops you’ve chosen are relatively close to each other, and you’re mixing up a good amount of walking with fun activities that they can engage with. However, be mindful of fatigue. You may want to have a backup plan for any breaks if the kids start to get tired—like stopping at a cafe or taking a moment to relax in one of the hotels. If you stick to a good pace and don’t linger too long at any one stop, it’s doable, but if your kids tend to take longer to rest or enjoy each attraction, it might get a bit rushed.

Suggestions for flexibility:

  • If the kids are getting tired or need a break, consider skipping one of the attractions, like the roller coaster or one of the longer stops, to make the day more relaxed.
  • Check the timing for the gondola ride at the Venetian and the fountains at Bellagio to avoid overlapping wait times.
  • Have snacks or water handy to keep energy up between activities, especially if they’ve been walking a lot.

Overall, it seems like a fun day with a nice mix of indoor and outdoor activities. Just keep a flexible schedule and adjust depending on how the kids are feeling!
