Recommendations Kamaole Beach Park
Looking to book a condo next winter in Kihei. We've never stayed in this area before, only Kaanapali area. Looking at map I see there are 3 Kamaole Beach Park areas. Can someone tell me the better beach area? Also for restaurants within walking distance? Any other recommendations is appreciated.
Kihei is a fantastic area for a vacation, and staying near Kamaole Beach Park is a great choice! It’s a popular spot with easy access to beautiful beaches and a variety of dining and activity options. Here’s some information to help guide your choice:
Kamaole Beach Park Areas: There are indeed three Kamaole Beach Parks in Kihei, each with its own unique characteristics:
- Kamaole Beach Park I
(also known as Kam I) is often considered the most popular beach in the area. It’s a spacious beach with good swimming conditions and usually a bit busier than the other two parks. It’s located in the heart of Kihei, close to shops and restaurants, and is perfect for families and people looking for a more social beach atmosphere.
- Kamaole Beach Park II
(Kam II) is located just south of Kam I and offers a slightly quieter atmosphere. The beach here is still quite beautiful and is often a little less crowded, making it great for relaxing and sunbathing. There are also grassy areas with picnic tables, which makes it an excellent spot for a more laid-back beach day.
- Kamaole Beach Park III
(Kam III) is at the southern end and is less crowded than the other two, making it ideal for a more peaceful beach experience. It’s also a favorite for snorkeling, with clear waters and a good chance of seeing sea turtles. The beach here tends to be a bit more rugged, with fewer amenities, but still offers beautiful views and a relaxed vibe.
If you’re looking for a more lively beach atmosphere with easy access to dining and activities, Kamaole Beach Park I is a solid choice. If you prefer a quieter spot with fewer crowds, Kamaole Beach Parks II and III offer a more peaceful experience. For families or those looking for a mix of both, Kamaole Beach Park II is often the sweet spot.
Restaurants Within Walking Distance: The Kihei area, especially around Kamaole Beach Park I, is home to many great dining options within walking distance. Here are a few local favorites:

Other Recommendations: Beyond the beach and restaurants, here are a few other things you can do while in Kihei:

- Scenic Drives - Take a drive down the scenic Makena coastline or head toward the Wailea area for more beautiful beaches, upscale resorts, and golf courses. The drive along South Kihei Road also offers stunning ocean views.
- Sunset at Charley Young Beach - Just north of Kamaole Beach Park I, this smaller beach offers an excellent spot for a beautiful Maui sunset. There’s often fewer people here than at Kamaole I, making it a great alternative for an evening stroll.
