Is the Aston Mahana really on Kaanapali or Honokawai?

I was under the impression Kaanapali stopped at Black Rock. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

The Aston Mahana is located in the area known as Honokowai, not Kaanapali. The confusion often arises because these two areas are adjacent to each other, but they are distinct. Kaanapali traditionally ends at Black Rock (the point at the northern end of Kaanapali Beach), which is where the Westin and Sheraton hotels are located. Beyond that point, to the north, you reach the area of Honokowai.

Honokowai is a quieter, residential area that offers beautiful beachfront properties, such as the Aston Mahana, which has direct oceanfront views. Although it’s very close to the southern border of Kaanapali, it is technically not part of the Kaanapali resort area. It’s about a 5-10 minute drive from the Aston Mahana to the main Kaanapali resort area, where you’ll find the major hotels, shops, and restaurants.

So, in summary:

  • Kaanapali ends at Black Rock, which is located at the northern tip of the main Kaanapali Beach area.
  • The Aston Mahana is located just north of Black Rock, in the Honokowai area.
  • Both areas are close to each other, but Kaanapali and Honokowai are different in terms of their boundaries.

Both areas are beautiful and offer great access to beaches and nearby attractions, so you’ll have a great time regardless of which area you choose!
