Paia Beach Gear Rentals

Planning a "do your own thing" day when on a cruise-stop in Kahului in April. Looking at taking the local bus to Paia. Looked online, but having no luck finding if there's anywhere in Paia where one can rent beach gear - e.g. chairs & umbrellas. I can find places in Kahului, but it would be easier to get stuff in Paia itself.

Anyone have any advice?

It sounds like you're planning a great day in Paia! Paia is a charming little town on Maui with easy access to beautiful beaches, but when it comes to renting beach gear like chairs and umbrellas, options within Paia itself can be somewhat limited compared to Kahului. However, there are still a few places in or near Paia where you might be able to rent beach gear, or you could explore other solutions for your beach day.

Here are some options to consider for renting beach gear in Paia:

  • Paia Outfitters – Paia Outfitters is a great local shop that rents out surfboards, bodyboards, and other water sports gear. While they primarily focus on surf gear, it’s worth checking with them to see if they offer any beach chairs or umbrellas. They may not advertise them prominently, but the staff is friendly and can help you with your rental needs.
  • Maui Beach Gear – This service offers delivery and pick-up of beach gear, including chairs, umbrellas, and coolers. While they are not located directly in Paia, they do provide delivery to the area, which could be an easy solution for getting beach equipment without having to travel far.
  • Paia Town Shops – While there may not be dedicated beach gear rental shops in Paia, some of the local shops like the Paia Mercantile and the shops around Baldwin Avenue may have small beach gear available for purchase. You could grab a few essentials if you’re not able to rent them.

If you’re unable to find gear for rent in Paia directly, you could consider picking up your rentals in Kahului or Kihei, as there are a few larger rental companies there with more variety in terms of gear. You could also check with local resorts or hotels near the beaches around Paia, as some of them may offer rentals to the public even if you’re not staying there.

Enjoy your day in Paia – it’s a wonderful spot to relax and soak in the beauty of Maui!
