4th visit to vegas and honestly Excalibur is better.
It sounds like your recent experience at the Flamingo was quite disappointing, especially for a special occasion like your daughter's 21st birthday. Unfortunately, while the Flamingo is one of the older hotels on the Strip, it's not uncommon to hear mixed reviews. Here's a breakdown of what you mentioned and some possible ways to address these issues if you find yourself in a similar situation in the future:
- Resort Fees: The resort fee at the Flamingo can be a bit of a "ripoff" for many guests, especially when you feel like you're not getting value for what you paid. These fees often cover Wi-Fi, access to the pool, fitness center, and other amenities, but as you've mentioned, it’s frustrating when those services are not up to par.
- Wi-Fi and Water Issues: It’s unfortunate that you experienced water problems for 48 hours and that the Wi-Fi wasn’t reliable. In many cases, you should be able to request a room change or compensation for such issues, but it’s definitely an inconvenience during your stay. Most hotels will offer assistance with these problems if reported early enough.
- Shower Not Working: A non-functioning shower is definitely one of the most annoying hotel issues. If something like this happens again, be sure to contact the front desk or hotel maintenance immediately. Sometimes they can offer a room change or fix the issue right away, but it’s a shame that this wasn’t addressed during your stay.
It’s understandable that you feel the Excalibur was a better experience. While the Flamingo has a great location on the Strip, Excalibur is more affordable and can provide a more family-friendly, consistent experience. Excalibur also tends to be more straightforward with its offerings, and if you're looking for something more budget-friendly without unexpected issues, it may be a better fit for future trips.
When planning your next visit, you may want to consider other hotels that offer better value for the money and are known for their customer service, like:
- Caesars Palace: Just a short walk from the Flamingo, Caesars offers a more upscale experience, often with more consistent quality, especially in terms of room maintenance and guest services.
- The Cosmopolitan: Known for its modern design and great amenities, The Cosmopolitan also tends to offer more reliable services compared to older hotels like the Flamingo.
- The Venetian or Palazzo: If you're looking for luxury without too much of a hike from the Strip, both of these properties offer a top-tier experience with much better reviews for service and quality.
Hopefully, your future Vegas trips will be filled with better experiences. The city has so much to offer, and while there are some hotels that may not meet expectations, there are plenty of others that can make your stay memorable!
