Windsor Island Resort

Hi we are booked to stay in 5BR villa in Windsor Island Resort in Davenport from May22nd-Jun7th. There are very limited reviews online, just wondering if anyone has stayed here and what the Resort is like? Also how is the traffic driving to Disney & Universal Parks? Website claims 35min drive but looking at other posts traffic seems quite bad in this area so looking for feedback from anyone with first hand experience. Thanks

Windsor Island Resort in Davenport is a gated vacation community that primarily offers large villas, making it ideal for families or groups needing 4-6 bedroom accommodations. While online reviews are limited, guests generally report clean, well-maintained homes with full amenities including private pools, modern kitchens, and comfortable living spaces. The resort itself is quiet and family-oriented, with a small clubhouse, playground, and sometimes a community pool. It’s not a large resort with extensive on-site activities, so the focus is really on enjoying your villa and nearby attractions.

Regarding driving to the theme parks:

The official distance to Disney World is around 10-12 miles depending on your route, which can take approximately 25-35 minutes in light traffic. Universal Studios is farther, roughly 25 miles, and the drive typically takes 35-45 minutes. However, during peak times such as mid-morning, late afternoon, or special event days, traffic can be significantly heavier. Construction and seasonal tourist influx can also add extra time, especially on the main highways like I-4 and US-192.

  • To Disney: plan for 25-35 minutes without heavy traffic; allow extra time in peak hours.
  • To Universal: plan for 35-45 minutes; traffic can extend this considerably during rush hours.
  • Tip: leaving early in the morning or later in the evening helps avoid the worst congestion.

Other considerations:

  • The resort is ideal if you want a home-like atmosphere with privacy and a pool for downtime between park visits.
  • There are grocery stores, restaurants, and service stations nearby, which makes stocking up and quick meals convenient.
  • If your schedule allows, consider park-hopping or doing off-peak hours to minimize time spent in traffic.

Overall, Windsor Island Resort is a solid choice for a family stay if you are comfortable driving to the parks and prefer a spacious villa with private amenities. Just plan for variable travel times depending on the time of day and park crowd levels.
