Things to do with kids non park day.

Hi All,

Heading back to Orlando as a family of 5. We are doing Universal, SeaWorld, Aquatica. One of the days we are splitting up and my partner is going off with the older 2. I am looking for something fun to do with my 7 year old daughter.

I was thinking maybe Wonderworks or Sealife, then Chuck E Cheese for dinner.

Is there any hidden gems I might be missing out on that would be good to do?

Thank you!

Orlando has plenty of options for a non-park day with a 7-year-old. WonderWorks and SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium are both excellent choices—interactive, educational, and kid-friendly. Chuck E. Cheese is a solid option for casual dinner and playtime afterward.

Here are some additional ideas that might be considered hidden gems or less crowded alternatives:

  • Orlando Science Center – Hands-on exhibits and live science demonstrations. Great for a curious 7-year-old and usually less crowded than the theme parks.
  • Crayola Experience – Located at The Florida Mall, this is perfect for creative fun with art and craft activities tailored for young kids.
  • Leu Gardens – A beautiful botanical garden where you can stroll, explore nature, and enjoy a more relaxed pace.
  • ICON Park – Ride The Wheel, visit Madame Tussauds, or explore the small kid-friendly attractions around the area. Evening light displays are fun too.
  • Lake Eola Park – Feed the swans, rent a swan-shaped paddle boat, and enjoy the playground. A low-cost outdoor option in downtown Orlando.
  • Playalinda Beach or nearby beaches (if willing to drive) – For a quieter day outside the city with sand and water play.

If you prefer indoor activities due to weather, focusing on WonderWorks, SEA LIFE, Crayola Experience, or the Science Center is ideal. For outdoor, leisurely fun, Leu Gardens and Lake Eola Park provide a calm and engaging environment.

Pairing one educational/interactive spot with a fun meal like Chuck E. Cheese or a kid-friendly café will make for a balanced day without the theme park crowds.
