First time to Disney world itinerary help

First time visiting Florida in July with 2 teenagers.

We have a 2 week stay at Disney Saratoga spring with park tickets and full dining.

Looking advice on our itinerary and dining bookings.

We also would like a few Disney free days to see other attractions and go shopping near by using Ubers.

Thanks in advance.

With four nights before heading to Disney, both Cocoa Beach and Daytona Beach can offer a mix of relaxation, sightseeing, and family-friendly activities. Here's a detailed comparison to help decide which might suit your trip best:

Cocoa Beach:

  • Relaxation: Many resorts and hotels have pools, making it easy to spend your first day recovering from jet lag without leaving the property.
  • Proximity to Kennedy Space Center: Only about 45 minutes away, making it convenient for a full-day trip without too much driving.
  • Shopping and scenery: Cocoa Beach Pier area has small shops, casual restaurants, and a scenic boardwalk for a relaxed day exploring without needing a car.
  • Beaches: Known for its laid-back, family-friendly beaches suitable for swimming and light water sports.

Daytona Beach:

  • Activities: Offers both beach relaxation and attractions like the Daytona International Speedway, which could be exciting for your 11-year-old.
  • Events: The beachside concert and other events could add a lively atmosphere, but may be crowded depending on timing.
  • Beach Access: Unique feature: you can drive on certain stretches of Daytona Beach, which can be fun and convenient for families with minimal walking.
  • Scenery & Shops: Daytona Beach boardwalk has shops, arcades, and casual dining options, making for easy short excursions.

Recommendation:

  • If your priority is relaxation, minimal driving, and a quick trip to Kennedy Space Center, Cocoa Beach is ideal. It’s quieter, more scenic, and manageable for a short family stay.
  • If your priority is activities, events, and potentially a visit to the Speedway, Daytona Beach provides more variety, though it can feel busier, especially near concert or event dates.

For your itinerary:

  • Day 1: Arrive and recover at hotel pool.
  • Day 2: Kennedy Space Center (Cocoa Beach base is slightly closer).
  • Day 3: Explore boardwalks, shops, and beach. Cocoa Beach Pier or Daytona Beach Boardwalk depending on your choice.
  • Day 4: Optional beach day, local attractions, or light driving to nearby areas.

Both beaches have family-friendly accommodations and easy access to Orlando for the next leg of your trip. Cocoa Beach offers a more relaxed pace, while Daytona adds a bit more excitement and events.
