First flight restaurant

I’d like to eat here because the ambience looks pretty nice and I’m wondering if it’s necessary to make a reservation to sit outside in the evening. I’m not really sure which night we want to go yet so that’s why I’m hesitant to make the reservation. Be there first week of June. Thanks.

First Flight Restaurant & Bar in Key West is a popular spot known for its aviation-themed décor, relaxed yet upscale ambience, and outdoor seating that overlooks the marina. It’s a great choice if you enjoy a casual fine dining experience with a waterfront vibe.

Regarding reservations for outdoor seating:

  • Even in early June, Key West can be busy, especially in the evenings. Outdoor tables are limited and tend to fill up quickly around sunset and dinner hours.
  • If your schedule is flexible and you don’t mind waiting, you could try walking in; however, there may be a wait for patio tables, especially on Friday or Saturday nights.
  • For guaranteed outdoor seating, it is highly recommended to make a reservation. Many diners opt to reserve at least a day in advance if they have a preferred evening in mind.

Other tips to consider:

  • If you prefer not to commit to a specific night, you can call the restaurant the day of to check for availability for outdoor seating — they are usually responsive and can advise on best times.
  • Arriving early (around 5:30–6:00 PM) often increases your chance of securing a patio table without a reservation.
  • The ambience is enhanced by sunset views, so timing your visit to coincide with the evening glow is ideal.

Overall, while it’s possible to dine without a reservation, to fully enjoy the outdoor experience, it’s safer to plan ahead. First Flight offers a cozy, memorable experience whether you sit indoors or on the patio, and the menu features fresh local seafood and creative cocktails.
