Visiting Orlando for 7 days gives you a good amount of time to explore both Disney and Universal parks without rushing. Here’s a detailed guide to help you plan your visit:

Disney Parks: Walt Disney World has four main parks, each offering unique experiences:

  • Magic Kingdom: Iconic park with Cinderella Castle, classic attractions, parades, and fireworks. Must-visit for first-timers and Disney fans.
  • Epcot: Divided into Future World (technology and innovation) and World Showcase (pavilions representing different countries). Great for food lovers, cultural experiences, and some thrill rides like Test Track.
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Focuses on movies and entertainment. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land are highlights. Good for thrill rides like Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom: Combines safari experiences, exotic animals, and thrill rides. Pandora – The World of Avatar is a major attraction, especially the Flight of Passage ride.

Universal Parks: Universal Orlando Resort consists of two main parks:

  • Universal Studios Florida: Movie-themed rides and shows. Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley is a must-see for fans. Includes attractions like Transformers, Revenge of the Mummy, and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.
  • Universal’s Islands of Adventure: Thrill-focused with areas like Jurassic Park, Marvel Super Hero Island, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. Excellent for roller coaster lovers.

For a 7-day trip, a recommended plan could be:

  • 2 days at Magic Kingdom (to cover everything leisurely)
  • 1 day at Epcot
  • 1 day at Hollywood Studios
  • 1 day at Animal Kingdom
  • 1-2 days for Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure

Hotel Recommendations: Consider staying in resorts that are convenient to Disney or Universal, depending on your focus. Disney-area hotels offer perks like early park entry and free transportation to parks, while Universal-area hotels provide early access to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

  • Disney Area: Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, or Disney’s Coronado Springs (mid-range, good for adults)
  • Universal Area: Loews Royal Pacific Resort (themed, good for early park access), Hard Rock Hotel, or Cabana Bay Beach Resort (more budget-friendly, fun retro theme)
  • Vacation Rentals/Airbnb: Plenty of options near Disney or in Kissimmee if you prefer more space, kitchen, or private pool.

Additional tips:

  • Buy tickets in advance for both Disney and Universal to avoid long lines.
  • Use Genie+ or Express Pass options to save time on popular rides.
  • Plan rest periods in the middle of the day, especially if traveling from Singapore due to jet lag.
  • Consider renting a car for flexibility, especially if staying off-site or visiting multiple parks each day.

Overall, all four Disney parks are worth visiting, each offering something different, while Universal is great for thrill-seekers and movie fans. Your hotel choice should align with the parks you plan to spend the most time in and your preference for convenience vs. cost.
