Club Wyndham Kauai Beach Villas

Going to be staying at the Kauai Beach Villas through the Club Wyndham timeshare. Never stayed anywhere that doesn't have a/c. Kind of worried about the reviews I've read about it being so dated, and having cockroaches. Is it as bad as people say? Anyone stayed here recently with any advice??

The Club Wyndham Kauai Beach Villas is a long-standing property with a strong location on the east side of the island, near Lihue. Reviews are mixed, and many of the comments you’ve read about it being dated and the lack of air conditioning are accurate, though experiences vary depending on the unit and time of year.

About the property:

  • The resort consists of condo-style units with kitchens, living areas, and lanais, which makes it convenient for families and longer stays.
  • There is no central air conditioning in most units; instead, they rely on ceiling fans and natural ventilation. Some guests find this comfortable, especially if they leave windows or sliding doors open to catch trade winds. However, during hotter periods, especially in summer, it can feel warm inside.
  • The property is dated in terms of decor and furnishings in some units. Some recent reviews note that kitchen appliances, furniture, and bathrooms show signs of wear, though housekeeping generally keeps units clean.
  • Cockroach sightings are occasionally mentioned, which can happen in tropical climates. Most guests say they did not experience this, but it is a potential concern—especially if windows/doors are left open or food is left out.

Guest tips and recent experiences:

  • Request a top-floor unit if possible, as these tend to get better airflow and more natural light.
  • Bring or request a portable fan if you’re sensitive to heat; some units provide them on request.
  • Keep food stored in sealed containers to reduce the chance of pests.
  • Units closer to the ocean tend to be cooler due to breezes; units facing the parking lot or landscaping may be warmer.
  • The staff is generally helpful and responsive if you have maintenance issues.

Summary:

If you’re used to fully air-conditioned resorts, the Kauai Beach Villas will feel different. The location is excellent for access to beaches, shopping, and restaurants, but the accommodations are dated compared to newer properties. Some guests experience occasional issues with pests or wear and tear, while others have no problems and appreciate the condo-style living.

Overall, it’s not a “bad” property, but it’s important to manage expectations: it’s more about comfort, location, and self-catering than luxury or modern amenities. Preparing for heat and bringing insect precautions can make the stay more enjoyable.
