Honua Kai Hokulani
We are staying at the Honua Kai Hokulani in August. Just curious about the beach there. Do they provide chairs/umbrellas or is there someplace to rent? I searched the website and I can’t seem to find any info regarding this. Also, any tips regarding this property/area would be appreciated. Family of 7. “Kids” are between 24-30. TIA
Honua Kai Hokulani is a popular oceanfront resort located on Ka’anapali North Beach in Maui. The beach in front of the property is generally considered safe for swimming and is less crowded than central Ka’anapali. The sand area is moderate in size and can accommodate sunbathing, beach games, or simply relaxing by the water.
Regarding chairs and umbrellas:
- The resort does not automatically provide beach chairs or umbrellas in the units, but guests often bring their own or can rent them.
- Local beach rental companies nearby offer chairs, umbrellas, and other beach equipment. Some units may also have beach chairs available for guest use, so it’s a good idea to confirm directly with the property management before your arrival.
- Many guests simply use towels and the sandy beach for lounging, which works fine if you arrive early to claim a good spot.
Tips for staying at Honua Kai Hokulani and the area:
- The property is part of a larger resort complex that includes pools, hot tubs, and landscaped areas—great for families and groups.
- Parking is usually available on-site, which is convenient if you plan to explore Maui beyond Ka’anapali.
- Restaurants, grocery stores, and shops are within walking distance, particularly at the Whalers Village area, making it easy to grab meals or supplies without driving.
- If your group is 7, book accommodations early, as the larger condos and multiple-bedroom units fill quickly.
- Consider snorkeling or paddleboarding from the beach; the water is generally calm in the morning, but check conditions each day.
Overall, Honua Kai Hokulani is highly regarded for its location, amenities, and proximity to the North Ka’anapali area. Families with adults in their 20s will enjoy both the beach access and the resort’s recreational options, as well as easy access to nearby restaurants and activities.
