Looking for early dinner suggestions uptown on a Monday

Normally I would go to Jacques Imos but they are closed Mondays. Will be going to the Maple Leaf at 7:00. Prefer a restaurant that's focused on seafood.

If you’re looking for a seafood-focused dinner uptown in New Orleans on a Monday evening and Jacques-Imo’s is closed, you still have some solid options nearby. Since you’re planning to be at the Maple Leaf at 7:00 PM, you might want something that’s not too far away to make the timing comfortable.

Here are some suggestions for seafood restaurants uptown or nearby that are generally well-regarded and open on Mondays:

  • R&O’s Seafood Bar & Grill – A casual, classic seafood spot offering po’boys, fried seafood platters, and local fish specials. Uptown location makes it convenient before heading to the Maple Leaf.
  • High Hat Café – While not exclusively seafood, they often feature seafood specials and Southern-style dishes; casual and friendly atmosphere.
  • Parasol’s Seafood & Oyster Bar – A small, neighborhood-focused spot with fresh oysters, shrimp, and fried seafood plates. Good for a quick early dinner before the show.
  • Gautreau’s – A classic uptown seafood restaurant with Louisiana-style preparations; a sit-down option if you want a relaxed meal.

If you prefer something very close to the Maple Leaf, you could also consider lighter seafood options from nearby casual eateries or seafood po’boy shops. Many spots in this area feature fried shrimp, catfish, oysters, or local fish, which can give you a true taste of New Orleans seafood without straying far from your evening plans.

Tips:

  • Call ahead if you’re aiming for a 7:00 PM seating, especially on Mondays when some places may close earlier or have limited service.
  • Seafood portion sizes can be generous, so you may want to order accordingly to save room for the evening.
  • Consider parking ahead of time, as uptown streets can get busy even on weekdays.

Overall, an early dinner around 5:30–6:30 PM at one of these seafood-focused spots will allow you to enjoy a relaxed meal and still make it to the Maple Leaf comfortably for your planned 7:00 PM arrival.
