Just wondering if the Orlando park regulars have an opinion on which park would be less busy?
This will be one day only and I am not buying express or lightning passes.
With Universal being so popular with the new Epic park and Harry Potter attractions will this be crazy busy the day we want to go or should we opt for Epcot? We're 2 adults only, no kids.
For Sunday, October 19, deciding between Epcot and Universal Studios without purchasing Express or Lightning Lane passes depends on your priorities and tolerance for crowds. October is generally a busy month in Orlando due to fall break periods, Halloween events, and pleasant weather, so both parks can be moderately crowded.
Universal Orlando, especially with the popularity of the new Epic Universe park (if open) and the Harry Potter attractions, tends to draw large crowds on weekends. Without Express Pass, wait times for key rides like Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, and other popular attractions can be long, often exceeding 60–90 minutes on a Sunday. Crowd levels may also be higher because tourists are visiting for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal in the evenings.
Epcot, while busy on weekends, often has more manageable crowds for adults focused on food, drinks, and exploration rather than thrill rides. October is during the Food & Wine Festival, which attracts many visitors, but lines for attractions are generally shorter than Universal’s major rides. If your main interest is walking around, enjoying international pavilions, seasonal food, and drinks, Epcot can feel less hectic than Universal without any express passes.
Other considerations:
In summary, for a Sunday in mid-October without any fast pass options, Epcot is likely to feel less busy and more manageable than Universal Studios, especially if your main goal is to enjoy attractions at a comfortable pace rather than racing to hit every thrill ride.
