Japan🇯🇵 Nagano Prefecture "Nezame no Toko"

Agematsu Town is surrounded by a granite region. The Kiso River carved this landscape, revealing Nezame-no-Toko.
The unique cracking of the granite has created a mysterious shape that resembles a row of large boxes.
Since the Meiji period, the water level of the Kiso River has dropped due to hydroelectric power generation and the diversion of irrigation water, further accentuating the enormity of the rocks.

Designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty in 1923, it was managed as a prefectural park, and in 2020 was elevated to Central Alps Quasi-National Park status.
This area is also notable for the ancient legend of Urashima Taro.

Cherry blossoms bloom near the park in spring, and in autumn the mountains on the opposite bank are colored by autumn leaves.
