Ananuri Is a Dream Stop

#summervacay Ananuri is one of those places that makes you wanna pull over immediately, like, castle on a hill with a sparkling blue lake behind it? Yes, please. It’s right along the Georgian Military Highway, so it’s a super easy and scenic stop if you’re heading up to Kazbegi.

The fortress itself is partly ruins, partly still-standing churches, and you can totally wander around, climb up some towers, and pretend you’re in a medieval movie. The stonework is gorgeous, and the whole place just has this peaceful, timeless vibe.

The views of the Zhinvali Reservoir are chef’s kiss. Seriously, that lake is so blue it almost doesn’t look real. I just sat on the wall for a while, soaking it all in. There’s a small market nearby too with snacks and souvenirs if you want a bite or a break.

It’s not a big place, but the combo of nature + history makes Ananuri feel really special. Definitely worth the stop, even just for the photos alone!
