Antalya's Old Town (Kaleici) - Turkey

It is a must see place in Antalya! The old town, named Kaleici, is a great place to spend a day walking and exploring this wonderful town full of history. It has more than two thousand years of history!

Numerous historical monuments are collected here. Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans – they all left their traces in Kaleici in the form of their characteristic architecture. Perfectly restored whitewashed and red-roofed Ottoman mansions are now home to boutique hotels, souvenir shops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants.

Kaleici is a home to Hadrian’s Gate, dates back to Roman Empire Period (130 A.D.), Yivli Minaret Mosque builded in 13th century, Broken Minaret Mosque had been builded as a temple in 2nd century by Romans and turned into a Byzantion church and many other. Visitors will be able to see lots of architecture from different centuries just by walking around the Old Town.

You’ll easily find Kaleici by walking or taking a taxi to Kale Kapisi, the main square, which stands out thanks to the stone-clad Clock tower, built during the reign of Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II in 1901.
