This August, my family and I visited Avignon in southern France to see the famous Pont Saint-Bénezet. This ancient stone bridge once spanned the Rhône River, connecting Avignon to the opposite bank. Though only a few sections of the bridge remain today, it still stands majestically, exuding a sense of history. We strolled along the riverbank, admiring the bridge's reflection in the sunlight and soaking in the romantic yet poignant atmosphere. Standing on the bridge and gazing into the distance, we could see the ancient city walls of Avignon and the silhouette of the Papal Palace—a truly breathtaking view. This visit not only gave us insight into the legends and history behind the bridge but also added a touch of poetry and nostalgia to our journey.
