Late Afternoon at Burnham Park, Baguio

Burnham Park is the heart of Baguio City, and it truly lives up to its reputation as the city’s green escape. I went in the late afternoon, when the air was cool and the soft light made everything look extra inviting.

The man-made lake is the main draw—you can rent a swan boat or just stroll along the water and watch families paddling by. I chose to walk the pathways first, enjoying the pine scent and the sound of kids riding bikes and roller skates. The gardens around the park are well-kept and full of flowers even in the cooler weather.

If you get hungry, there are plenty of food stalls selling street snacks like strawberry taho, sweet corn, and fish balls—perfect for a quick bite while you people-watch.

Tips:

Best time is early morning or late afternoon for cooler temps and softer light.

Wear comfortable shoes; the park is bigger than it looks.

Bring a light jacket if you’re staying until evening—Baguio nights can be chilly.

Burnham Park might be a classic stop, but the mix of fresh air, mountain views, and lively yet laid-back atmosphere makes it a must-visit every time you’re in Baguio.
