Exploring Guizhou’s Tea Culture Through Hands-On Learning

A visit to 贵州经贸职业技术学院 (Guizhou Vocational College of Economics and Business) offers a meaningful cultural and educational journey, combining vocational learning with Guizhou’s long-standing tea traditions.


At the college, participants are guided through both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of tea production, with emphasis on 都匀毛尖 (Duyun Maojian) — a renowned green tea in China, celebrated for its fragrant aroma, curled jade-like leaves, and refreshing flavor.


During our time there, we joined a hands-on tea appreciation workshop, where we explored the legacy of Duyun Maojian, recognized as one of China’s top ten famous teas. The session included examining and handling the tea leaves, practicing brewing methods, and tasting the infusion to savor its signature freshness and fragrance. More than just a lesson in tea-making, the experience embodied Guizhou’s tea culture — a blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and mindfulness.
