"IN THE GARDEN, Things We Found" In gardens, we always find ourselves.

This group exhibition features three artists: Wiphu Sriwilas, Kittikong Tilokwattanothai, and Julie Baker & Summer, in collaboration with River City Bangkok and SAC Gallery. The works on display are inspired by gardens (both real and imaginary) and the natural surroundings of the artists' daily lives.

"IN THE GARDEN, Things We Found" explores the idea that a journey into a garden is not only about experiencing nature, but also about entering our own personal space. Gardens are places that connect man-made art and natural beauty. They are spaces for spiritual practice and confrontation with material reality. Thomas Moore's quote in The Re-enchantment of Everyday Life, "A garden is a magical place because it is without division," reflects the fusion of reality and imagination, the central theme of this exhibition.

Wiphu Sriwilas presents works featuring mythical and literary Thai animals as characters in his garden, representing a journey of love and the struggle for equality. The ceramic sculptures in the "Wedding of Phra Sang" series (inspired by the Thai literary work "Sang Thong") evoke warmth and a strong spirit, while also exploring the true value of undivided love. This aligns with the concept of self-discovery in a limitless garden.

Kittikong Tilokwattanothai presents abstract works using brushwork and lacquer to reveal vibrant details. While not referencing the physical form of objects, the meaning of the works still conveys the search for identity and feelings inherent in nature, inviting us to explore and discover the language of color and light in an imaginative garden.

Julie Baker & Summer presents works inspired by the Japanese summer landscape and atmosphere. Her swift brushstrokes represent an attempt to capture memories and find meaning in green spaces. While this journey may be fleeting, her works convey an experience that reveals warmth and comfort to the viewer.

From a personal perspective, entering a garden or nature (both real and imagined) can trigger a deep self-exploration. Gardens provide a space for us to find tranquility and an opportunity for reflection. Discovering the experiences of gardening not only brings joy, but also a learning experience of growth and transformation. Taking time to explore the beauty of nature is a reminder of the importance of connecting with ourselves and our surroundings.
