Thailand has a rich variety of popular photo spots. Here is a related guide:
Bangkok
• Grand Palace & Emerald Buddha Temple: You can take photos from the main entrance stairs to showcase the architectural grandeur, or shoot the silhouette of the spires from the side. It is recommended to visit early in the morning, and remember to wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees.
• Wat Arun: The best light is during early morning or dusk when the light is soft. You can walk around to the side or back and shoot the white pagoda from a low angle looking up, or take panoramic shots from the pier across the river.
• Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakon (Golden Buddha) at Wat Traimit: Mama Cooking is a popular spot where you can capture the alley and the Buddha together; 769 Soi Thoet Thai 26 allows you to photograph both boats and the Buddha; the Lad Ya 8 footbridge is suitable for shooting with a telephoto lens.
• MahaNakhon SkyBar: The 78th-floor glass observation deck offers a bird’s-eye view of Bangkok’s nightscape. Buy a Happy Hour package before 6 PM to get a free observation ticket. When shooting night scenes, you can use flash and contrast color filters.
Chiang Mai
• Tha Phae Gate: Early morning has the most white pigeons. Spend 20 THB to buy pigeon feed, wear a red dress, and take continuous shots as the pigeons fly up, creating dynamic images.
• Wat Phra That Doi Suthep: The morning sunlight is soft, and the golden pagoda looks great on camera. You can take a cable car through the bamboo forest on the back mountain directly to the viewpoint to shoot panoramic views of Chiang Mai.
• Nimman Road: There are many trendy cafes, such as Graph Cafe, with industrial-style decor perfect for photos. Wear simple clothing to capture Instagram-style pictures.
Phuket Island
• Big Rock Beach: You can charter a long-tail boat from Rawai Beach. After snorkeling, take photos of the jellyfish sea at Crescent Bay. The transparent small boats are very photogenic.
• Mai Khao Beach: Located near the end of the runway at Phuket International Airport. Check the flight landing schedule carefully. Standing on the beach, you can capture planes flying low overhead with the beach and sea as the background.
• Kata Rocks Hotel: The iconic infinity pool and sunken seating area look like they merge with the Andaman Sea during the golden hour at sunset, offering a spectacular view.
Other Areas
• Ayutthaya Wat Mahathat: This is a filming location for "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider." Taking photos of the Buddha head in the tree during the early morning mist creates a very atmospheric scene. Shooting the main pagoda from the northeast corner at a 45-degree upward angle can capture the collapsed pagoda and crescent moon in the same frame.
• Sukhothai Historical Park: Ideal for cycling through and photographing the thousand-year-old pagoda clusters. At sunset, lighting lotus lanterns in front of the sitting Buddha to make wishes creates a very special photo moment.
• Chiang Rai White Temple and Blue Temple: It is recommended to take a car tour for a day. Wearing a solid-colored long dress works well for photos. The mosaic glass tiles in the White Temple’s restroom are also a unique photo spot.
